Acácio Gonçalves Rodrigues is a researcher at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS), where he leads the MicroMed research group, and a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), directing the Microbiology Laboratory.
At a clinical level, he has been the coordinator of the Burn Unit at the University Hospital Center of São João since 2006.
With a degree (1988) and a doctorate (2000) from FMUP, Acácio Rodrigues is co-founder of the start-up FASTinov and principal investigator of the MicroMed research group at CINTESIS.
Acácio Gonçalves Rodrigues has more than 180 articles published in national and international journals, a dozen book chapters, and five patents registered in his name.
His work focuses mainly on microbiology, infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections, mycology, sexually transmitted infections, pharmacology, and antimicrobial resistance.
